Happy Turkey Day!

Well, Matty has had several firsts since my last blog entry - first week at day care, first cold (coincidence? I think not), first airplane ride and first Thanksgiving! We left last Tuesday for El Paso to see Juan's family for Thanksgiving. He was a great little traveler. He got very excited and smiley when we were waiting at the gate both on the way there and the way back - I guess he likes to travel! He hardly made a peep on the flight either way, so no dirty looks for us from the other passengers!

Matty had a great time meeting his cousins, aunts, uncles, great aunts & uncles, etc while in El Paso, including the three other new babies who joined the family this year. It was very cute to get all the babies together. Here's a picture of the four expectant mothers together several months ago in El Paso at the baby shower Juan's family threw for us, ordered left to right from least pregnant to most pregnant

And, the four of us with the babies now...

And, the four babies together - left to right they are Angel Sebastian (6 months old), Juan's cousin Tzuni's baby, Jasmine Zoe (4 months old), Juan's sister Darcy's baby, Matty (3 months old), Isaac Nathanial (2 months old), Juan's cousin Citlali's baby.

We also got snow while in El Paso! We woke up Saturday morning to about 3 inches on the ground. Here's a nice picture Juan got of the mountains coated in snow -

Unfortunately, Matty's cold got really bad while we were there, so we had to take him in to a pediatric night clinic to get him checked out. They said he had bronchilitis (fancy speak for wheezy lungs) and the start of an ear infection. So, we were set up with a nebulizer for him to breathe in medication for his lungs and antibiotics for the ear infection. Treating him with the nebulizer has been an interesting experience. It takes a good 15 minutes to give him the whole dose of medication, which is a looooong time with a squirmy baby. He's usually reasonably cooperative for the first 10 minutes, then after that he either starts fussing in earnest or gives up and falls asleep. Here's a picture of him hooked up to "The Machine".

Luckily, his cough improved very quickly with the nebulizer, so he was in a pretty good mood after the first day or two and had lots of fun hanging out with Juan's family - here are some good pictures from the rest of the weekend...

How wonderful to get to grow up with cousins in your same age group! Glad Matty is feeling better. Can't wait to see him in a few weeks!
